Hello! I’m a Resident in Counseling, facilitator and trainer.

I have a Masters Degree in Somatic Psychology from Naropa University. I also trained at The SensoriMotor Psychotherapy Institute in a complex model of empowerment and mindfullness counseling, based in understanding developmental needs, traumatic experience and also the intersection we now call Developmental Trauma.

My journey towards this work started when I was 13 years old: I was first introduced to Buddhism by Peter Tadd, and soon after, continued on the path with Sufi leader Melvin Meyer (Wali Ali). I went on to study with the monks of Namgyal Monastery in Ithaca NY, where I had my foundational contact with the Tibetan Budhist Tradition.

Since that time, my teachers and sources of inspiration have included H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama, Robert Thurman, Michael Herrick, Kekuni Minton, Pat Ogden, Reo Leslie, The Woman at Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence, Bruce Tift, and many other leaders, actors and thinkers.

I am committed to being an Ally, using my position and knowledge as a white, heterosexual, owning-class, male to work toward justice and equity in all I do.

When I'm not working with clients, I experience “being human” by climbing mountains, raising two kids, and flying passengers on a tandem paraglider.

I am a Certified XPT Coach.

I am deeply in love with the human experiences we all carry.

The Whole Man

The Whole Man grew out of a life-long passion: optimizing the 'human experience'. Through ‘Fire & Ice’, one-on-one & couples counseling, and Group work - The Whole Man inspires clients' personal growth and joy with sophisticated methods that drive satisfying change.

If appropriate, wisdom and practices from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition are integrated into the process. However, the ultimate goal is for clients to create their own paths of wisdom and insight, enabling them to move towards their highest potential. This ownership of our birthright is what Buddhism encourages us to explore.

The image above represents The Whole Man, a concept that embodies an inner and outer experiences of grit, joy and integrity. Drawn by Christoph Vorlet (@christophe_vorlet), the artwork captures not only my work, but also the challenges and strengths of my own life path. Christophe’s work is simple, powerful, contemporary and visionary. His drawings elucidate politics, simplifies complexity, and pushes emotional and spiritual boundaries.

Truly visionary to me, this original artwork was his gift to me on my 18th birthday!
